About The Owner

Dr. J. Hawkins,

Store Owner/Author

As the owner of AfroCentric Books & Things, I am ecstatic about opening the store with a book that I personally co-authored. "Get Over It!" I am so excited to have this opportunity to share my heart with so many of you. To become an author has been an essential goal since acquiring my doctoral degree. Neither, was an easy task, but as you can see it was accomplished, and therefore it is possible for those of you have the same desire. I enjoy sharing my experiences whether positive or negative, because I truly believe sharing my experience will help others who may be going through or have been through the same experiences, get through theirs. I want others to know that they are never alone although it may seem like it. I was raised in a Christian home, where serving the Lord was important. Throughout my years of growing into the woman I am, from the age of ten, I tried kept God in my daily walk. I will be the first to tell you, having Christ in my life did not make life entirely easy, but it has made life more pleasant even through rough times. As you read my story, it is my prayer that God will use it to uplift and encourage you all.
